Dilijan is a spa town in the Tavush Province. Usually called Armenian Switzerland or Little Switzerland by the locals, it is one of the most important resorts of Armenia, situated within the Dilijan National Park. The forested and reclusive town is home to numerous Armenian artists, composers, and filmmakers and features some traditional Armenian architecture. 

Old Dilijan
The central Sharambeyan street has been preserved and maintained as an "old town", complete with craftsman's workshops, a gallery and a museum. Hiking, mountain biking, and picnicking are popular recreational activities.
The city lays on the bank of Aghstev river and is extended on the external line of Small Caucasus mountain ranges and covered with dense forests. The climate is mild, the summer is cool and the winter is warm. 

Dilijan National Park
The Dilijan Nature preserve comprises 24,000 ha of old growth forests stretching the Sevan Pass to Ijevan. It was established in 1958 to protect endemic species of oak, ash and elm, as well as recently planted stands of pine. Wildlife includes bear, wolf, fox, rabbit, various birds, hedgehog, weasel and other animals.  The forest has numerous brooks and mineral springs.  

Tourist attraction
Jukhtak monastery and the monastery complex of Haghartsin (15 km far from the city) are also in Dilijan.  
Dilijan as a resort city has a number of health resorts. Hotels and guest houses of Dilijan with all facilities receives tourists from abroad and different parts of Armenia.

Economy
The main trend of town industry is manufacturing, in which the food and beverages production is separated. 
The Armenian government is planning to turn Dilijan into a regional financial capital, beginning with the move of much of the Central Bank's operations to Dilijan in 2013.
Dilijan is currently the fastest-growing urban settlement in Armenia.
