Shaki Waterfall
Shaki Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country. It belongs to the fan type and is formed due to one of the smallest tributaries of Vorotan River. The water falls from a height of 40 meters.
The name of the waterfall is connected with a legend according which a conqueror was captured by the beauty of Shaki and ordered her to present herself. Between choosing to be his or not, she chose the second and threw herself off of a high rock. It is believed that while she was falling her long dress opened and formed the waterfall, which was named after her.
On top of the hill by the old cemetery are the scant remains of Shaki Vank. Nearby are the remains of a shrine named for Shaki, one of 93 maidens saved from flood by a miracle.
